New Commenting System and a plea for help

I'm trying to implement a new comment system, but I didn't want to fool with importing all of the previous comments. This means that (fingers crossed) we can reply to comments in a thread (is that right? I'm tech illiterate.) So.
I'm trying this out on this post.
If you're reading this, please comment so that I can see if what I did worked.
I'm really, really hoping that it did.
Like I said, I barely know HTML. We have chatted online a few times and almost met in person.
Anyway.
