Things I Love Thursday

TILT Shhhh…don’t tell but I’m playing hooky again today but just for a few minutes because I have something I REALLY, REALLY LOVE!!!!

I’m still trying to lose those last 50 pounds of  postpartum baby weight (I figure each kid left me with about 12.5 extra).  And yes, even though it’s been a 15-year span I can still refer to it as postpartum.  Wikipedia told me so (okay, not really).

Anyway, I started out at the beginning of this year trying to make some simple changes – more water, exercise 30 minutes a day (5x a week), and trying to get more fruits and veggies in my diet.  This resulted in me feeling better, sleeping better (okay, I really never had a problem with this), and losing absolutely no weight.

So in March, with bathing suit season preparing to rear its ugly head (it’s hard to type that on April 29th when we just broke a record for coldest morning – 34 icy degrees) I decided to get a little more serious and work myself a plan.  So far I’ve dropped 10 pounds…oh so very slowly did I drop those 40 sticks of butter.

And something I feel helped me was the thing I love today (I know about time, right?).  I don’t really care for the sandwich thins everyone raves about.  I could pretty much take ‘em or leave ‘em.  But one day in my journeying around the world wide web, I found this blog.  And she was raving about the Thomas Bagel Thins.  Hmmm….one of my favorite healthy treats is a whole-wheat bagel.  I found these at my local Sam’s Club  (2 packs for $4.XX something?) and I love them with a serious passion.  I think they’re 110 calories (I’m in my basement office and am too lazy to walk upstairs and check the bag—hence the reason I’m still carrying ‘baby weight’.)

My favorite is the everything but I also get the whole wheat.  There are days when I have had one of these puppies for every.single.meal.  Whole wheat with turkey sausage for breakfast, everything with turkey for lunch, and same thing for dinner. (Here is where a lovely picture of my turkey on the everything bagel, with my favorite Cheddar and Sour Cream Baked Lays and a delicious cold Mt. Dew—hey I’m already giving up so much—should be, but Live Writer WON’T LET ME?!?!?!)

While I’m on the subject of food, has anyone else seen Food Inc.?  Oh great day, hubby and I watched last week and it totally rocked our world.  No joke.  We’re on a serious quest to change our eating habits and even more, our kiddos diet!  I’m anxiously awaiting my Amazon order of Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and In Defense of Food:  An Eater’s Manifesto (this is Simple Mom’s book club choice for the summer).  I can’t wait for my 12 1/2 day summer vacation from school to read these!!!
